Born in France, raised in Tahiti and Italy, Romain is now a Detroiter. After studying advertising photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Romain decided the best way to master his craft would be working as a newspaper photographer, where one has to solve countless visual problems on tight deadline everyday. This sort of visual boot camp has now been going on for 10 years. For the last six years, Romain has been a staff photographer with the Detroit Free Press, where he was named Michigan Photographer of the Year twice.

In 2006 Romain Blanquart, a Photographer out of Detroit, released a series of photographs chronicling the wedding of a terminally ill bride and her fiance. These are NOT my images, but of a fellow Photographer. This photo essay truly embodies the emotional power of photography. Click any of the photos to see the essay in its entirety.
